4age just won't run... vid inside

89 AW11
86 16v
89 harness, ecu, injectors, TPS, etc

OK, we tested everything. Not sure if we tested it all right though lol

There is spark on every plug.
All 4 injectors (and the cold start) are spraying.
Timing is correct (rotor pointing to #1 at TDC)

Here's a vid of all it does (the poof at the end was the #4 injector... the o-ring leaked. Replaced, no leak, but no change in starting):
mr2 :: Movie.flv video by aaron7 - Photobucket

After the vid we pulled the plugs and they were soaked... we left them out to let the engine air out overnight.

yah, said that in the post. All 4 plugs spark.

And if you watch the vid you can see the motor does kinda run.

yah well, when you've been working on the thing for 5 hours straight and it won't start... you start to care less. I have a pile of starters anyways lol

I'm in the same boat with my 20v. I have plenty of spark but it keeps flooding. Hopefully someone chimes in with something that helps you and I can use that to get my car running.

come to think of it...i had my 2001 eclipse with a no start too rich problem

idk if this is aplicable..but it could open some doors?
it has 8 injectors...2 are extra and feed in right after the throttle body...they wire got pinched in the throttlebody and the car wudnt start except in clear flood mode (throttle to the floor and crank) and then died...well i touched them and they were ungodly hot (thankfuly didnt set anyti9ng on fire) and when I unstuck it they were nolonger stuck open and it ran properly

But have you actually put a timing light on it while someone cranks it over?

Tried unplugging the cold start injector?

Made sure the AFM is plugged in?

Tried righting the AFM? It's upside down. May not make a difference, but if you haven't proven it will run upside down, it wouldn't hurt.

Made sure you have zero vacuum leaks, and no air leaks between TB and AFM?

Made sure the injector resistor pack is compatible with everything else?

Unplugged all the injectors and tried to run it on propane or starting fluid?

Haven't used a timing light yet. Thought it had to run before you could do that?

Unplugged the cold start, yes.

AFM is plugged in. Haven't tried flipping it because I didn't think it would keep it from running; just from running well/right.

We've checked and double checked; no vacuum leaks.

Far as I know the injector resistor was just for 85/86. I don't have one on this.

It does fire off starting fluid; yes. Well, brake cleaner... didn't have starting fluid handy.

Nope, just has to make spark. You can do it during cranking. You'll want to verify it after you get it running, but at least it'll help you cofnirm that you are in the right neighborhood.

Apparently it's '85-'87 that used it.

Timing sounds WAY retarded.

Weeeeeeeeeeeel... though we checked it like 3 times... the plug wires were off! Two were reversed.

Motor starts and runs now! Starts hard though... I don't think the cold start is spraying. Gonna hit the junkyard for one.
