I did a boo boo... MAF problem

So i made a mistake, and now my car wont run... well it will turn on, but then dies instantly.

I was trying to use that CRC MAF cleaner and i think i did a really bad thing. I couldnt get any of those dinky screws to come off, and im prety sure they are made out of pewter too, not to mention oxydized and a bit rusted, so i couldnt get anything to come apart... So then i decided to take out the two screws that hold the plug in place... and i tried taking out that thing, only to find that they arent connected by wires, they have a bunch of prongs on the other side... so then i tried getting it back in, and that didnt go back in place as easily as it came out, and that was my problem... so now im pretty sure i need a new MAF.

So does this need to be OEM? or is there an aftermarket upgrade? and does anyone have a used/rebuild, or new one laying around? And dont tell me i can repair it, because if im stupid enough to break it, i doubt that im smart enough to fix it.

If you want to buy mine and fix it for yourself ill sell it to you at the core price, which i think is $25-40 or somthing.

Please help, i want to get this running asap. and if you know of a good price online, please link me that as well.

I have the one off an 88 for sale. The car ran and threw no codes. I'll sell it for cheap. Shoot me a pm and we can work something out.

so i read in some other toyota forums that im not the only one to make this mistake. And it has been suggested there that they should have welded or rivited that connection adapter into place so you cant take it off... aparently if i want to cut off the black lid and re-solder them it could work again, but im going to go with a new/used one and also try to repair the exsisting one as well and just sell it or keep it, whatever. But from all the other forums about cleaning the AFM, theirs look MUCH different than ours, and i cant find a thread ANYWHERE that explains how to properly clean an MR2 AFM... except the newer MKIII's. So if anyone has cleaned it before and know how to properly do it, i would love a good explaination on how its done. Pictures would be DANDY as well too.

Also, who is the OEM manufacturer for the AFM? I find a few manufacturers, but i cant tell if they are all aftermarket, or if one of them is an OEM replacement.

Well I fixed my MAF, no thanks to UPS... Overnight is an overstatement. Thanks to mr3 for his outstanding response time and efforts to get me my part as fast as possible, I really appreciate that. Never the less I haven't recieved his yet, but I took mine apart and re-soldered the thing. I cleaned it up, primed it grey, then painted a chrome enamle on it and while I had half the intake off I just put a new one on for about $30. It looks great. Now while driving it to test it... I noticed my exhaust was really loud... So I got home looked under and what do you know... Broken clean through at the u after the cat. So I guess that's my next project. Now I need to make friends with a welder lol. I'll post picks of the new MAF/intake and of the broken exhaust a little later.
