it looks like it's an 85 that's been repainted or an 86 missing the 3rd brake light. s/c's didn't come out until 88, and all were t-tops (this is a hardtop). Also, s/c's have the IC lid.
I would guess that for $300 if it was an s/c swap, then the owner had no idea what was in it ![]() |

Your car already has the only body kit that ever looked good on the mki- the stock one. All it looks like it needs is a fresh coat of paint, or perhaps the old paint can be salvaged with some cleaning and polishing.

Yeah, clean and polish that thing up. Unless that's some lame rattle can paint job, there might be some actual worthwhile shine to the paint under those layers of dirt and grime.
BTW- its an 85 that someone stuck some different wheels on and an funky antenna on the engine lid... otherwise its bone stock and looks to be in really good shape for $300. You stole that thing. |

lol thanks for all the info guys, seems like i got a good car and yea they were old BMW rims a friend gave them to me with new tires for free. the original rims and tires were still on it and they were really messed up. I think i'll just keep the stock look and get a professional paint job done to it. Think i should stick to black? I was thinking White or Metalic Blue.. lol not sure

Hey I see you have a goofy antenna on the engine lid...my black 86 has a bolt and some silicone from what looks like there used to be a silly antenna on it as well.
Good find, freshen up the paint and enjoy it, you have the best color mk1 available ![]() |
