Need Help ASAP Alternator on 4agze!

Are there any other alternators that fit the 88-89 sc mr2? I am here in japan and can't find another mr2 anywhere i would like to know if any other alternator is interchangeable with the mr2 sc i was thinking the 2nd gen mr2 or the Levin or truenos? maybe even the celicas if anyone could give me a straight answer it would be greatly appreciated. I am in a bind here.....

an alternator should be an alternator. i can't imagine there would be worlds of dif between 2. buy a nice one tho because they are important.

that is not correct.

the s/c has a different sized housing because of 1) where it's located and 2) it has to be run on the outer crank pulley (due to the s/c and water pump on the inside pulley).

further, the aw11 uses (for some stupid reason) an external regulator on the s/c's only... so a corolla 4agze alt won't even work.

there may be others that work, but I have no idea what they are from.

Maybe see if there is a used one on this board for sale, or the other forum, or rockauto, they will ship reasonably, I believe.......as for another alt fitting, from what I understand those particular Toyota alts are one offs for the Toyota brand(those year supercharged mr2s anyway), due to the placement, and the fact the volt reg is in the trunk.

This will piss you off, but its not so funny... cause what we really established a few posts ago was the fact that you don't own an SC and didnt know the answer, yet you posted anyway.

You may be able to buy just the components, and rebuild yours, fairly cheap, the brushes for the s/c here in the states at autozone are 2.99, if thats what the problem is, and most likely it is, as the volt reg is in the trunk and rarely goes out. You can go to this site: Airtex Online Parts Catalog
part number: 1v1367 for volt reg
part number: 5A1000 for the brushes, and they just solder in.
if you have an 89s/c as I do, the 88 volt reg works.

I was a little harsh and I apologize. There are plenty of people on this forum who have real experience and do know the answers, so guessing or assuming is just not helpful. That's all I am saying. Peace.

When soldering them in, make sure to solder them to where they are not able to fall out of the space thery are in, as they sell you more copper conduit then you need. All you have to do is make sure they are not able to wear all the way down to the copper "cord", leave yourself alittle brush, maybe 5-8 mm.
