Outer splines, inner splines, length, and diameter should be the same.

I too go onto the forums in attempts to help. When you put in information stating passenger or driver side and the information doesn't apply (or can be confusing) since there's a variance on which side the driver sits on, then there should be some sort of clarifcation.
I have bought an early year short shaft (or so it was represented)and it was about 3/8 inch to long. Once assembled the ball joint bolts were off and wouldnt go on without forcing it, which meant that the cv boot was jammed all the way up onto the tranny stub. That is all I meant, by wanting to keep my 2 a 2..... I guess I should of stated that differently. My Toyota with the correct Toyota parts? I dont know. Its not like I only buy o.e.m. stuff to replace parts that go out. I do have a corolla fx16 motor in one of my cars.

Thanks for your concern but unfortunately no. I hope everyone understand that I am not in the states and that's why i am having so much trouble finding this part and the reason why i am asking about other interchangeable shafts is just to do a quick fix while i find the original axle. as for me been a new B it may be so but please understand that i have owned 4 of these beautiful vehicles on top of that i have done all the maintenance my self with help of my father and of coarse members of this board so i am a little knowledgeable. thanks you

were you able to try to assemble the ones you have per my try at instructions..lol.....It is hard to explain, but if you massage the surround up and down they will pop into place.
As for new b, no one is keeping tabs, friend, I need help even though I have owned a 2 since I was 17, I am 38 now, and new things still emerge, or the need to know a short cut.....so no worries. By the way, that cars paint job is awesome, I love the colors and so does the mrs......

Can't remember where I found it (or if it still is out there, as this was about 6 years ago) but the bearings don't go in exactly how you would think... they're offset from the housing (hard to describe).
i could make the bearing go back in but there is no flexability at all is this right? what do you mean by c shaped brackets? do you mean the c shaped washers that go with two of the 8mm L bolts?

Stand them on the end that goes into the wheels hub, so that the bearing side is up, as the pic is. I put my palms on the end(in red) that the cv boot attaches to, and my fingers on the end (in blue)that attaches back to tranny shaft, and work it up and down, you will notice when they get into place. Then it will be flexible again. I do know what your talking about as when I rebuilt mine, I had that happen to me. It was solid and wouldnt flex.

yes.... when the axle is unbolted, the "c" shaped brackets that go between the bolts need to be put to the other side of the joint with the "C" facing so that it holds the cage in place... otherwise, it can fall apart.
