Over run hesitation

I've just got my mr2 so I'm getting to know its gremlins. As i'm driving and I take my foot of the gas, there is a hesitation, almost like a bump feeling, as opposed to a normal car the overrun will keep the power smooth, the aw11 has a slight jerking movement.

Any ideas?

Not sure if its related to a popping sound from the passenger rear which may be passenger side axel.

check/adjust tps and possibly thoroughly clean throttle body.
