Broke connecting rod

can I replace 1 broken rod . 1987 year . block and crank looks good just pulled the pan #4 rod broke. Where can I buy a rod ? Thanks I'm a newbie.

you can replace a single rod as long as it hasnt damaged the bore at all and it hasnt damaged the crank (most likely would have if it broke)

I wouldn't.

Toyota matches the sets based on weight... and they are balanced as such as well.

plus, if you fix one rod you might as well replace all of your bearings..... then you should ask yourself why the rod broke --probably due to bad oil pressure (caused by low oil.... either a bad leak or burning off) which you should take care of as well..... and by this time, it's full rebuild time.

Find another 4age locally, hear it run if possible, then put it in your car....

thanks for the information. the motor was rebuilt about 6 months ago the nuts for the rod caps were in the oil pan the mechanic must have failed to tighten properly.

then they should fix it... I would guess that wasn't a cheap rebuild.
