no more wet asses!
i have declared war on these t-tops. no more of this leaking! if i have to wrap my 2 in sran wrap i will! but i might have a solution that is a little less insane. i am going to try it out and if successful, can be done for under 10 bucks. if tha doesn't work, i have a plan thats slightly more invasive but should work for sure. we shouldn't have to retire our 2's for the rain season! stay tuned ladies and gents!

there are a lot of different things people have tried.... both successfully and failed (all depends on the car, I guess).
I have an idea of how to fix it for about a dollar.... but haven't tried it yet. |

so the weapons are in place. i got some sealant from homes depot, filled the lil gap at the edge of the top. then i put the top on the car and filled the gaps before and after the top. o my car it leaks inside where the top touches the roof. hopefuly this will fill it up. it ain't the prettiest but it hould get the job done.
oddly enough, the second i pulled this off, it got sunny outside... i ****ing hate virginia >> |

My fix costed me a total of nothing. All that was needed was 4 washers.

clean the seals really well and remove the tops. use some silicone dielectric gel and massage it it. let it set for a few hours sans tops. reinstall tops.
works for me for the most part. the method comes from a GM TSB for t-top cars. |

Very easy to do. It's even better if you dont break the a-piller like I did. I'd exchange a wet butt for broken plastic any time. Just pull down the plastic pieces, un bolt the female piece for the rods then stick a washer between the bracket and body then rebolt and button up plastics. It pulls the t-tops down tighter. I did my 88 in about 45 minutes tops. It wouldve been faster if I could've found the correct size washers. Just had to dig down to the bottem of the tool box for the right size.

its not the seals, i replaced those. the small gap between the top's seal and the actual seals toyota tech is talking about. it gets in there and ends up dripping between the 2 and onto my lap/the seat if i am not driving. hopefully it rained out so i can see if it worked.

My friend's crackhead friend said WD-40 works like a charm, my 91 has no leaks, except for the broken glass, but weather stripping looks good.

lol, I'm not taking responsibility for a cracked out buddy
, I'm just passing it on, but like I said, I have no leaks, yet, nevermind the fact that it never rains here , and its sunny year round. |
