Replace SC Twin Exhaust Pipes

I have an '88 SC, and for years I had a freeflow exhaust. Eventually it was time to replace it, which I was happy to do because I had gotten tired of the noise (i.e too loud). So, I decided to just install a stock replacement. However, this new exhaust has two tiny outlet pipes that really look stupid.

So, could I get these cut off and replaced with a single bigger pipe?.

Also, would the single pipe improve the sound any (I would like it to be a little more throaty:-)?

replace the muffler, go to autozone, and get the pipes you want. or theres a guy you can get an exhaust from that makes good stuff. honestly i dont think it would be good to put 2-1 after the muffler, maybe get 2 tips and make them bigger and shinier.

the guy is terpcar@msn.com

he makes good looking exhaust thats pretty throaty i think.

if you want the look, yea go for the bigger tips ontop, no biggie. you could always hammer out PART of the inside of the muffler..that what rust has done to mine and it sounds pretty great, Cutting out the muffler and putting your own muffler could work, get an import oval (one that looks like a magnaflow or flowmaster) unless you want to sound like a ricy piece of junk. the oval cancels out the annoying tones, a circle muffler doenst ted to. there are several types of dual out oval mufflers, i think somebody has one that is has an in and out on one side and an out on the other, then just run pipes to the outlet. relativly cheap.
