I'll have to check down there and see if I have a similar problem. Haven't had time to look at it with the holidays and I've been sick. I did find out that when the lights work and I use my brights, it takes longer for them to start working again.

Dug in a lil deeper on my problem. All relays, t/s switch, dimmer switch, and grounds seem to be fine. I can remove one of the headlights and put a ground to the plug with the power probe and the lights will come and no buzzing coming from the relays. So i thought I could just make new grounds for the headlights and they would work, well they do but i still get the problem I'm having. Any ideas or suggestions?

I had to leave the car sit over night and it did the same thing when I went to pick it up in the morning. Tried again when I got home and same thing. Later that evening went out to move the car and they worked. I know it can't be the headlight switch because I just recently put a new one in because the dash lights would flicker at night when I hit a bump. I searched the forum but alot of the threads were incomplete. Could the headlamp relay in the kickpanel be bad? Ant help would be greatly appreciated!
I had that exact issue you are describing. For was a a bad contact on the blue box under the dash on the kick panel driver side.
Here is what I found under my dash:

Sorry for the poor pictures, old camera and it wouldn't focus!!

All I did to fix the issue was pull out the bad pin connector, cut it out and replace it with a new one. I just keep an eye on it from time to time to make sure its not shorting out anymore.

anything i would say would be far out there.

like... you have a slight intermittant short to ground. once the wire heats up enough from normal use, it flexes easier, you hit a bump, and poof no lights. when the wire cools it returns to its normal position and you have headlights. the short is not good enough to blow the fuse

or whoever replaced the headlights last accidentally crimped the pigtail near the headlight bucket. this is causing an open in the circuit, and the headlights stay up but are not lit. either pull the headlights out and look at the pigtail or when the hedlights dont work try using your brights.

i dunno. these cars do some pretty crazy shyt.

to the headlight topic...
my running lights come on once in a blue moon all by themselves and won't turn off, couldn't find the short so I bought a fuse extension and put in a switch with the fuse
its been like 2 months since the last time it happened

That was exactly my problem, thank you sir! I couldn't find exactly the same pin so I used one out of a chrysler plug and it did the job. On a sad note, I backed my mr2 into a prius as I was leaving the toyota dealer. Didn't do any damage except take some paint off my rear bumper and added some red paint to the prius.

I'm having the same or similar problem as you. My headlights flick up, but don't light. Then if I pull the lever to flash my brights, or lock it into place, the brights shine.

Also when I turn on the headlights (and they flick up but don't shine) my brights indicator on the dashboard also comes on.

Every other light works perfectly. Just the headlights wont shine, and during this time the brights marker is also lit up on the dash.

Any suggestions? (sorry I don't mean to hi-jack your thread, we have the same problem I think.)
