Newbie to MR2s

I have a clutch that cannot be depressed. The car sat for 9-12 months, inside a barn. It has a full reservoir that looks clean. Should I remove the master cylinder and is this the best place to start? Is that a tough job. What do I do after I take it off, just replace it or free it up or what? I also have a helleva valve tap, and am tempted to put something in there to silence that. The oil looks very clean. Doesn't heat up at all, so there seems to be oil pumping. Thoughts?

Valve Tap Quieting

I hesitate to use something but the noise is quite annoying. I've seen additives that you can add, and I know some people would say to address the taping by repairing whatever it is that causes it, but I'm trying to get a decent ride without spending alot of funds. Maybe it's a dream but we'll see.

Adjusting the valves should solve that problem. Its really not as big a job as some people think. A Toyota Service manual (aka BGB) would be a wise investment if youre at all mechanically inclined. The clutch issue... the petal itself cannot be depressed??

Clutch Fighter

Thanks for the post. I just bought a service manual on CD, so I am going to reference that.

In regards to the clutch, I can with all of my might depress the clutch pedal about 1 or 2 inches. Any thoughts?

PS I'm heading out to Mass. from Md. in the next hour. I'll check out your response over the weekend. Thanks again.
