idle problems when warm

My engine starts up fine and runs great until the engine gets warmed up, then it does this erratic idle thing where it jumps between 500-1500 rpms a few times then ends up stalling. Is this a coolant problem? bleeding? Or something else? I don't really know too much about these cars.

This is a total MYTH, perpetuated incorrectly by members of MR2 boards. The idle control system can NOT respond that fast to temperature changes.

You have an either an intake air leak or an Idle Speed Control valve issue/throttle body problem.

Is there an easy way to check for an intake air leak? throttle body probs? Any tricks?

One pretty good method is to use a garden hose to slowly put water over the areas that you think might have leaks.

would you be putting water over the engine or the hoses?

Over hose joints or throttle body connections.
