Dash Harness Problem. Dash lights and Cig Lighter intermittent.

Problem started as the Dash lights going out at night while driving. Banging the dashboard hard would make them come back on if you were lucky. Thought it was the dimmer or the cluster harness.

Now I just noticed that the Radar Detector that is hooked up to the Cigarette lighter also goes out when the dash lights go out. I just noticed this. I don't know if this is new or has been happening.

Can anyone help me with ideas of what to trace now?

I may be having the same problem... I'm less then 1 month into this car and haven't tried anything in the cig lighter yet. Let me drop my car charger and test it out. Here are some things I've noticed...

Dimmer switch does not work!
No stereo, possible Illumination lead shorting out.
Aftermaket alarm install from the mid 90's... crappy install!

Keep me posted if you find anything, vise versa...
