85-86 and 87-89 shock diffrences

ok I have a set of tokico adjustable shocks for the 87-89. the prob is I have a 85. why wont these shocks work in the 85, can I just use the 87-89 shock assembly, or is there any way this will work?

The 87+ shocks are bigger in diameter. They won't fit in the 85-86 tubes. You can get the strut tubes (the part with the spring perch on it) from an '87+ and it should work just fine, but many of them do not have the rear swaybar tabs, unless they're off the SC. Also, make sure you get an alignment after swapping strut tubes and/or struts.
