MK1 Setups Thread

1st setup:

1. 89 MR2 Supercharged
2. OEM factory '89 suspension
3. Ronal R20 16x7.5f (20lbs), 16x7.5f (20lbs) ET35
4. 205/45-16f, 225/40-16r - Toyo M+S high performance
5. stock fenders
6. stock alignment

Front tires rubbed fender on large high speed bumps. Decent ride quality, wallows a bit at high speed, lots of dive and squat with stock suspension, cornering average to good, tracking average (occasional bump steer even after stock alignment), understeer was pronounced probably because of overly staggered tire fitment, slightly uneven balance. Front wheels are almost flush while the rear is slightly more tucked but still very good rear fitment.

2nd setup:

1. 89 MR2 Supercharged (same car as above)
2. Eibach-Pro Kit springs, Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable shocks (1 front, 2 rear)
3. CSA Gladiators 17x7 front & rear (22lbs) ET42
4. 205/40-17f, 215/40-17r - Yokohama Parada Spec-2
5. stock fenders
6. stock alignment

No rubbing in any circumstance. Poor ride quality when city driving on average roads, busy feel, springs seemed jerky with too much initial 'mush' then firming up suddenly, very good to excellent high speed ride quality, almost no dive or squat, tracking was excellent, no bump steer, much more neutral handling, tires were extremely grippy, balance was excellent. Wheels are far from flush, especially in the rear. Could use a 5mm spacer in front and a 10m in the rear for better appearance.

3rd setup:

1. 89 MR2 Supercharged (same car as above)
2. Eibach-Pro Kit springs, Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable shocks
3. Sport Edition Fox 2, 17x7f, 18x8f (unknown weight) ET42
4. 205/40-17f, 215/35-18r - Yokohama Parada Spec-2
5. stock fenders
6. stock alignment

Similar to above setup in all respects except the rear felt bumpier, rougher riding mainly because of more wheel and less sidewall. Did not weigh these wheels but they felt like they made the car less nimble. No pics.
