4a engine series-rear motor mount
All my rubber motor mounts are incapsulated in synthetic silicone rubber as the Toyota OEM "rubber" is garbage and can't be trusted to last only a few years in heat. I race my cars so I can't/don't put up with sloppy motor mounts.
Your the first person to ask about this so I don't have pictures to send tonight, but if your interested (?) I'll send pictures of what I do and what they look like when I'm finished "upgrading" them to more solid types? (When your a Budget Racer you learn to make things do with what you have, and don't always have the disposable income to make purchases like the Big Boys.) ![]() mr2tim Supercharzed Toyz Race Team A Toyota Race Team since 1989 |

Used speedo cables-my story
Didn't get a request for the cable for 6 months or so and decided to install the used speedo cable into my racecar (245,000 miles)
Since it was used I taped a baggy with oil in it at the top and hung it up soas to get the oil to drain down into the cable and lube it. Tore the dash apart at the instrument panel, it has to come all the way off, (all the way!) Then I laid upside down (at the footpedals) and tore apart the rubber flange where the cable penetrates the front firewall, emptied the front trunk, then dis-assemled the front plastic cladding to access the cable for loosening, then went under the car and loosened all the cable attachments up to the tranny. Then I reversed all the above to install the "new" cable. Whew..maybe 3-4 hours and I know this car like the back of my hand. It was cool I had a speedometer back again. For 3 weeks. Lesson learned: if I had to do it again I'd do it with a rebuilt cable, or a brandly new one. I will not put a used cable in my car(s) again. Sorry cable not available. ![]() |

Oh no a trick question?
Hey Kev,
Jeez, I think you asking about about the side spoilers and front spoiler that came on the 87-89 S/C cars and was an option on the 87-89 N/A cars? I have the side spoilers only for $120, there's 4 pieces. The 89 series car also came with the LED spoiler on the trunk deck. (No, I don't have any but do have spoiler mounted units.) I would consider trading for a complete rear sunvisor with attached back glass upper trim? Tim Toyz Raczing |

Mark 1 87-89 Transmission response.
Yes, both my 87 N/A street cars were rear ended in 08 and both the manual 5 speed trannys survived intact. (never been raced)
(I also have a donor with case and 1-4th gears available) The 87-89 series cars were manufactured with the "modified" C-52 Manual Transmissions which were re-engineered to eliminate the weak 5th gear assembly so very common on the 85-86 series of cars. I'll need your Zip Code to pin down the shipping costs involved. If your serious get back to me with this information and I can have the unit ready to go in 1 day. Prefer Paypal but will accept checks etc with enuff time to clear these ragity assed banks down here.. Thanks for lookin' me up.. Hey kevin, sure do have
Yeah, bro I've figured out how to repair these units, besides the dried out plastic wheels that compose the rheostat the other problem is the grounding within the assembly.
The going price for these switches are $75, so to be a nice Clubber I'll absorb shipping if your in the USA. How are you and "Jackstand" doing on the technical issues? ![]() Tim Supercharzed Toyz Raczing |

No "C" pillars available
Your wude?
![]() Looks like your new to the forum. ![]() Here's an old post about these "C" pillars: C-pillar trim The exterior window trim you are now referring to is called the C-pillar, the black trim piece that that goes over the back glass also can incorporate the rear sunvisor with the Toyota logo in later years. (3 different pieces) I do not have the C-pillar exterior trim pieces. The problem with is these pieces is that they are attached with black steel screws, the nuts that receive them are brass and are manufactured (cast) into the plastic C-pillar pieces. When 2 dis-similar metals are in contact over a period of time (w/o di-electric paste) they develop electrolysis, and during this electricity generating period the 2 metals fuse into 1 metal.(Science #101) When the screws holding the C--pillars are turned after 20 years in place the brass nuts inserts inturn spin inside the plastic casting and break the C-pillars into pieces. (Unfortunate defectively engineered by the Japanese.) This is why it is very rare to find these C-pillars available in most 20 year old parts cars. Very unfortunately, most"yard" mechanics do not understand how to dis-assemble this problem successfully. |
