FWIW, the 88-89 NA rods are the same as the GZE rods and maybe easier to find.

I dunno about that... the 88-89 was a 4age 16v right? I dont think the rods were as strong as the 4agze... well i am not 100% sure about that since it was NA... i have 2 4age 16v that i parted out and if that is true then hell i got the rods ready to stick in :P. You sure they are the same size forge and strength?????

I would believe it if Papo said he could get 500 hp from a 4 a without a turbo. I have lurked for a long time and he seems to be one of 12 whose opinion is bulletproof concerning these engines, any of them, 4a, 3s, 5s, 7a, ......

Just my opinion

oh sick really? so that means the 16v rods are strong enough for a turbo ?! that makes me really happen plus i find it funny cause i measured the 16v i have and the journals on the crank was the same diameter as my 20v bt both were 42mm... someone told me that the 16v was smaller but to my surprise it was the same. So then this is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! haha all i need now is what pistons and a turbo manifold :P

wow 500hp??????? Pojo how do you get 500hp all motor with a 4a? gze or 20v? i'd like to know that set up... I originally wanted to do a 7age (or turbo it) but i got a hold of my BT for like 400$ that was opened but came with a full gasket set but needs new bearings and piston rings so basically it needs a rebuild. and 2 sensors that the guy took off for hes AE92 BT. so whatever 400$ + about 800$ for rebuild so almost the same price as if u would get it from Osaka or JDM engine imports but if you get it from them they dont guarantee it will last long. So I want to atleast have a power 20v cause there are a few on the Island of montreal but i want to make WRX STis freak out when i leave them in the dust. Also i wanna show some Skylines that a stock RB25 is heavey and not too powerful.

I wish... I'm certain that the later NA 4A-GE has the same internals (except pistons) as the GZE engines do. The early NAs had smaller rods (thinner) and cranks and smaller piston pins.
