I am not sure but this is what i found this far

88 SC mr2

Nippondenso; 70 Amps; Internal Fan Alternator; 5 Groove Serpentine Belt; Externally Regulated Alternator; Clocked At 6:30

88 NA mr2

Nippondenso; 70 Amps; Internal Fan Alternator; 5 Groove Serpentine Belt; Integrated Circuit; Clocked At 12:00

The Clocked time is different and i don't know if that make a big difference. Any info would help thank you! any one have one for sale?

Just for your info the clock posistion is the relevance between front half of case and back half meaning you can take out the case bolts and rotate the front half(pulley side) till the mounts line up to the ze

Wow, all of the "helpful" information here is wrong.

As stated in the mk1 forums, the gze uses an externally regulated alternator, that has a wider lower mount and an extended section where the pulley sits, because it has to use the outer wheel of the crank pulley.

the n/a (4age) alternator is nowhere near the same. The corolla (4afe/7afe) is nowhere near the same as it has a different clock position from the 4age alt, but that's it -- the lower mount is the same size and it's internally regulated.

the gze alt is special to the MK1 s/c's... unfortunately.

you may be able to take yours in and have it rebuilt if you have any special companies.... heck, they might even have something meant for another car sitting on the shelf that works.... but there is not another Toyota in the US that uses the same alt.

Just an update for all the gentlemen that are helping out. I ordered an alternator from Kragen auto parts online it was like 200 dollars with shipping. It is taking a long time to arrive at my home of record maybe i am just not patient its only been 5 days give or take. What sucks the most is that after it arrives there i will have to have my family back in the states ship it here so double whammy for me longer wait. If i may say this mr2 runs like a champ i installed a new clutch and it pulls great i been running the vehicle on just battery recharging it everyday with a battery charger from my work place kinda sucks taking out the battery everyday but oh well it works for now. once again thanks to all that have had a helping hand or in this case words....
