Maybe he wants to sell you his visor? Odds of you finding it all from the same person is slim. Get a piece here and a piece there.

No, you have to have the side trim or the visor will blow off and rip your center ctrim apart. The 4 metal tabs on the visor that go under the center ctrim piece are just to align it to the car and keep it flush with the roofline.. really its the side bolts on the visor that go to the side ctrim are what really secures it to the car.

You also MUST also have the 2 long bolts that hold the side of the visor to the side trim. So when you do find your side trim, make sure it

(1)has the drilled hole for the visor nibs (Picture of the different ctrim http://www.pbase.com/aw11mr2/image/97632983) you could drill your own holes but you still need #2 item (long bolts) below. I have also read of people ignoring this part and shaving the nib off.. but it really is added there for stability of the wing.
AND
(2) make sure the ctrim comes with the set of LONG visor bolts plus the other six normal bolts (4 per side, 3 are short and 1 is long) Here is a picture of the bolts: visor parts photo - aw11mr2 photos at pbase.com.

Got it?

Study this picture to see how it all connects together...

Just trying to help you to make informed decisions. Its not ONE part... its THREE parts and SPECIFIC requirements for the Ctrim with visor holes and long bolts.
You now know the entire deal.... You are searching for pretty rare parts.
Visor will be easy enough as you see. Its the ctrim sides and long bolts that you are going to have to really work for.

It is very possible you might source them from THREE people to actually pull it off... someone (maybe even me) will have the long bolts... I still have to check.

Someone else will have the visor.

A third person will may have the ctrim without long bolts. Heck, the ctrim might even be the one without the extra drilled hole (the NON visor side trim) and in that case they DEFINITELY wont have the long bolts.

Ideally, you find someone selling ctrim made for a visor with the two long bolts.... thats ideally.

But I wouldnt pass up on a nice set of side ctrim for a NON visor application just because you dont have the hole (its drillable... i have done it) and because you dont have the long bolts.... I have found those also before.

So you just have to understand the different options and locate those parts.
I will say there are more part trading going on at MR2 Owners Club Message Board™ and so you should go there too if you have not already.

Hint: Just dont be posting three or four times all around like you did here.
There is one place for it... the Mk1 PARTS SWAPPER section... anything else is in the wrong place.

i managed to get a visor n my 86 with 2 bolts i found. theyre the metric 4-20 thread bolts
(4mm wide 20 threads per cm) or something like that. all i know is they were about 1.5" long and it worked great. its lined up fine...

There is another thanks for you!

Thats good information and removes one difficult part of the process.
Plenty of deflectors out there... Now she just needs to locate a couple sides of ctrim!

Depending on what you want to pay, you can get brand new from Twos R Us, but it's something on the order of $500 for the three trim pieces and you still have to get the visor and bolts.
