1993 MR2 NA 3SGE conversion
Vehicle Location: Austin, Tx
Vehicle Price: 9200 OBO
Vehicle Odometer: 10k engine 190k body

**********SOLD***********

I'm looking for interested buyers. 3800 OBO

First, I sold this fantastic car in February and bought it back this weekend. While talking with the Owner I bought a yellow bone stock 91 Turbo with 75,000 original miles.

The car was completely rebuilt in October 2007 (see list below) and new paint in November 06.

Since February the car has seen hail damage (estimated 1275.00 to repair), low engine oil. I think it's going to require rear main seal. It is drivable and needs a few more maintenance items.

When in tip top shape, this car handles like a go cart and is great on gas mileage.

I was planning on gutting it an using as a parts car, but decided to sell it with the upgrades.

Interior = 8
Exterior = 6 even with hail damage. Check out the pics.

Gas gauge not working (sending unit at tank is good, need gauge).
Power antenna needs gear.
Cruise Control light does not show on cluster. Cruise control works perfect.

If you have any questions, email or call me directly at (512) 779-9530.(Antony).

actually that 3sge is a second gen meaning it has 158hp. i think the engine you are thinking of is a 1st gen 3sge out of the late 80s celicas but even those are rated at 135 so its the same as the 5sfe (94 and up) the 3rd gen 3sge is rated at 170 to 173 and then there is the beams 3sge rated at 200 to 210.

Thanks for the posts.

Consider for a moment that not everyone is looking for a Turbo. In the 7 months that I was looking for a 2, I researched maintenance, performance, insurance costs for the 5F and 3S-GTE. I also looked into the specific total cost of ownership for the vehicle with an interest of low maintenance, acceptable performance and moderately priced insurance over a new 2-door sportster.

I drove 2 - 5Fs, 3 - 3S-GTEs and kept one turbo for 3 days so that I would know what it felt like over an NA. When I got into my 2 it fit like a glove. Not only that, most of the Turbo's I looked at and driven in OK, AR, CA and FL had been abused and would have cost me time an $ to bring up to a state just for low maintenance. I would trust to take this car on any road trip. My wife likes this one over her 04 because it's roomier and more comfortable on long trips as we can fit a medium suitcase + two backpacks for 2 weeks away from home.

Also, this 3S-GE includes cold air intake, straight through Greddy exhaust and decked heads for improved compression which IMHO add 5 - 7 hp. So, I have a 2 that has more hp than an 5F, I can maintain the service and up keep myself, a lower TCO than a GTE, and insurance for an NA. It's held it's own against 3 series Beemers, A4s and one Dodge HEMI truck. Seems like a smart choice to me.

In this economy, everything is negotiable and I think the folks who are seriously considering buying a MR2 these days are aware of that.

keep the feedback coming!

A.

Touche...kind sir.

Well proven points right there. Great car, but coming from a turbo MR2 that I sold 5 months ago, I can't be without that power . Good luck.

datguy - it was white before it was white. White in the engine bay, frunk, under the carpet and under carriage. White like my wife is white.

OKC dude, my number is in the posting. I'd be happy to meet you in Denton; hope you don't mind my wife will come too. You would need to foot the gas bill before we come. If interested, let me know and I'll be happy to work something out.

Thanks for the responses!

it's almost as awesome a color as it is to live in San Diego.

I moved here from El Cajon and use to work off the 15 and Carrol Canyon parkway. Bump for a nice place to live!
