'92 built 5sgte turbo, complete car restoration
Vehicle Location: Kansas Vehicle Price: $13,000 firm Vehicle Odometer: 139,000 Hi Guys,
So with me in grad school I can't be tinkering around with cars really anymore and am selling off all my cars and buying a new car for the next 3 years. With that I'm placing my MR2 up for sale. This car has been extensively redone with either OEM or high quality aftermarket items and it was all done with great detail. I have put my heart and sole into this car over the past 3 years and it sucks to potentially see it go but it's time for me to move on I think. I have documented about 95% of everything I have done to the car with many different threads on here as well as a folder that has most of the receipts for everything. All of the work was done by me personally in my shop so I know it was done right. ATS did the tuning and built the 5sfe bottom end and looked over everything for me and said it was sound. Anyone of them will vouch for my car I'm sure as they have seen it numerous times and dyno'd it there etc etc. Not only them but all of the locals and many other board members cause vouch for this car. I strived to build a very streetable and respectable STREET car. By that I mean this was meant to be a car that you go out, start it up and drive off. Only maintenance needed was changing the oil (which I only used Royal Purple or Eneos full synthetic with a F1 Toyota filter) and the spark plugs. Honestly that's all I have needed to do since the new bottome end was put it up until recently when my spec clutch threw a spring (very very common) after 35,000 miles. I have a brand new ACT stg3 unsprung disc with the heavy duty pressure plate going in within the next week and a half. I was extremely anal about this car. As many will vouch. The car made 363whp 322tq at 20 psi with 93 pump and meth and 319whp whp at 15.5 psi straight 93 octane. It now can handle 25-26 psi with methanol and is easily around 400+whp. Here are the dyno's from ATS ![]() I don't feel I need to go into too much more detail as the threads I'm about to post will explain the rest. Mind you there are many many and they are all in great detail with more pics than you can ever imagine. A little more detail, I have put around 6500 miles on the engine since I installed it. The chassis hass 139,000 miles on it and feels very solid. The dash is NOT warped at all. Nothing is sun faded interior-wise. It's all in great shape! I went a great distance to make sure that I got rid of all of the rattles I could. Overall the car feels and sounds very solid.
The exterior is the only issue. The paint is, for the lack of a better word, shot. That's what I'm addressing below as far as the price. (See below for more details) PICS: It's dirty in most of these pics and I can't really get new ones as it's in my shop at the moment covered in dust so it wouldn't help much... ![]() One where I rolled it out of the shop so I could get another car out ![]() and then just a random one I took a couple weeks ago. ![]() Here are pics of the engine bay but does not shot the new polished KO throttle body nor the KO 3" polished intake that are included. ![]() ![]() PRICE: For the price I have a deal. There are going to be 2 prices. One is with the car repainted with the color of your choice (within reason on the color choice) and the other is as is on the paint and you paint it whatever. Price with it repainted: $14,500 Price as is: $13,000 I know I'm forgetting things on the mods etc and other details but I will fill them in as they come. I'm not in a rush to sell so no low balls at all and the prices are pretty firm. I have faaaaaarrr more than what I'm asking into this not to mention my time which is 1000's of hours. Here is your chance to get a great street MR2 or your chance to get an MR2 that has the potential to have 750whp with a bugger turbo, more fuel, bigger IC and a stand-alone. I actually daily'd it for the past month with no issues. It gets good gas mileage too if you stay out of the boost. The only issue I had was my clutch that threw a spring but if you search, SPEC is known for that and with the mileage that was on the clutch it was about time. To give example, most people have their spec go around 10-20,000 miles, mine lasted 35,000 but I think that was attributed to me rarely ever launching the car (only times I did was at the track which I've only made around 7 or 8 passes). In fact I don't drive this car hard at all even though it's built to. I mean every once in a while I will do a good 3rd gear pull but nothing where I'm ripping through the first 3 gears etc etc. But to answer your question, it's very DD'able and reliable. That's what my main goal was for this car as I mentioned above even though I never intended on DD'ing. I built a car that can handle TON's but only utilizing about 60% of it. Actually, literally 2 days after I got the new motor in I drove it 1000 miles round trip to ATS Racing in Denton TX without a single issue at all. I have no problem getting in the car and taking it coast to coast. Save for oil changes I would bet money that it would do it without a hitch meechanically.
