Craigslist- 95 for $2500 in Ohio
Vehicle Location: Columbus
Vehicle Price: 2500
Vehicle Odometer: 200,000

1995 Toyota MR2

Not mine nor anyone I know. Seems cheap for a 95. I have 5 cars and 2 motorcycles, I don't need more toys so I didn't even call on this one. Could be a scam, or a great deal

Watch out

I called about this car the day it was listed. I was told by the sellers that it was Quote "immaculate". I will give you all the description that they wont so you wont make the costly mistake I made. This car is absolutely NOT immaculate. The paint is no longer glossy, it has a billion rock chips. There is a nasty scrape on the roof that needs to be touched up because surface rust is present, but its not bad. Front bumper has been bumped and is warped. Rear bumper has been scraped beyond repair around passenger side wheel well, it will need to be replaced to look like new. One positive I did notice is that all the vin stickers were present, so its likely the body is all original. The body panels are straight, there are a few dings, but all can be removed paintlessly, I also didnt spot any rust. The driver seat is worn considerably, and the center console has a hole in it where your elbow sits. I seen the title, there was no salvage or rebuild branding so it was good. They have not had it put in thier name. The test drive went well, the car drove straight, trans shifted good, clutch was good, engine didnt smoke, power steering felt fine, brakes felt good, however the engine felt laggy, that could be due to the fact that I currently drive a Turbo model, or the rebuild that these shady individuals did. I had the cash with me when I drove the 6 hours to columbus, and I will say had the car been described to me accurately I would have bought it, since they lied through thier teeth I passed, worried about what else they may be covering up. All in all I missed a day of work, spent $150 dollars in cash for gas and wound up empty handed.

I absolutly agree, like I said I had the cash in hand, if they had been honest I would have jumped all over it. I didnt spot any leaks. The body was straight, the hood and front fender/ headlight alignment was real good telling me that whatever happened to the front bumper was not bad, the bumper was just too warped to be made to look good IMO. This car would be perfect for someone who wouldnt mind investing in a repaint and two new bumpers. My plans were to make an autocross track car out of it, so I would not have even needed to paint it for myself. The owners blatent dishonesty is what scared me off this real good deal.

In case im not being clear let me say, this car is a real good deal. I just didnt want anyone else to make that expensive of a trip for something that was misrepresented.

Not to be harsh, but any car with over 200K cannot be "immaculate." If you drove 6 hours thinking you were going to get a steal, you were only fooling yourself.

I called within an hour of the posting and ruled it out within 2 minutes. In that conversation it was represented to me that the motor had just been rebuilt and the owner (who was said to not speak English) had only had it for a couple of months. It was not worth my time to take a look even though I live right in Columbus.

engine rebuild? i haven't done the swap to my car yet but the estimate i got for a 4age was around 2500. all i am sayin is if the engine was just rebuilt he would def be askin for more money. before my 2 i almost bought a 1989 4runner for 4k because they guy had the engine redone. it was in amazing shape.

even if it had a salvage title it wouldnt be bad as long as the repair was pefect. after all these cars are so old it dosnt take much to Total one. blue book on them is nothing and thats all insurance looks at, not market value. my 95 has a salvage title because the rear bumper got torn off. no other damage. it still has the original tail lights, trunk lid, vin stickers ect.... i paid a lot more than 2500 for mine about 3 times that, before i put wheels, suspension ect on it. but mine is extremely nice condition. all said and done i think these cars are worth what ever someone wants to pay for them. i say buy it, fix it up and you might have a nice 95 for a good price.

Wow, i paid for 1988 for my 95na at dealer in DC and i drove 9 hours and in
Jan too.. I was sent pics and knew right away what problems were..

In my case it was a one owner trade in and was older lady who i doubt
every waxed it ..

I have owned way to many mr2s and rescued many from clueless owners
thankfully and this car should be price around 1800 with the mileage
as mine was 1988 with 112k and that was at a dealer...

$2500 dam you can not buy a set of tires for the ZO6 with that. Must be nice to have such a cheap car to work on

That sucks man. It would be different if this add was never listed on this forum. Lying to a bunch of MR2 Enthusiast is just madness especially when you know you're going to end up black labeled. Not to mention the fact that this vehicle has now lost its appeal to most buyers. unless you can get it for under a $1000.
