Tail lights for the mk2

I made this thread for those of you who are wanting to see the difference between the different styles of tail lights out there for our cars. If you know of a set that is in mass production (not 1 off customs), please let us know here and ill update the thread.

91 through 93 Tail Lights
These tail lights came stock on all MR2s from 1991 to 1993.



94+ Tail Lights
These tail lights came stock on all MR2s from 1994 to 1999.



Aftermarket 94+ Tail Lights

Also note that the triangular corner pieces to the taillamp setup is red for the North American market, amber for the Japanese.

Also, do you think that is paintable? if so, I would think it would look better painted to match the car.

i think its chaser aero thats making a similar panel to this so you can paint it. it will definatly clean up the 91 lights.

Nice write-up here. I don't know much about MR2's yet, but a question for you. The very first picture of the grill, and "MR2" in red, was that a JDM thing? or stock USDM/JDM thing? Cause I have the same one and you have that first picture labeled as "Japan." So I was just wondering, thanks.

I think in Japan the "MR2" was body coloured... but I also thought the honeycomb grille was slightly different. I'm researching to verify

mp5o - those are the 94+ tail lights. The JDM version of the tail lights have amber corners and the usdm version has red corners.
