There 1 or 2 screws holding on the cable relay cover. Just remove it and the cable, then loosen the clamping nut on the TB cable bracket.

As far as this DIY is concerned, for the cost of materials alone, you could get a suitable lower mileage cable from the junkyard. Worst case, you'll need to make a new L bracket to hold the cable. Which reminds me...gotta head out and see if I can find a celica cable tomorrow...

Its the most unusual acceleration ive ever driven..

help anyone?
common with cruise control. theres too many linkages and the cable run length is too long.. causes jerky acceleration. you can clean up everything and try a cable lubricator (harbor freight has them for cheap).

its just a combo of old car with too many linkages unfortunately. my non cruise mr2 was drastically smoother.

.. another reason why this ghetto repair shouldnt be done! those housings cause most/all of the stickyness. if the cable is shot, its a reflection of the condition of everything else involved.

I'm running a 91 n/a 3sge manual without cruise control. Haven't done this ghetto repair. Always keep legit. I do have jerky accelration in first and second gears though

my cable on my 86 non cruise is so bad i had to unhook it and use some camping string to get through the weekend. can anyone help me find the part number?

the old one seemed too short and had a sharp kink in the last bit of housing before the two 12mm nuts on the bracket.

i would be thrilled to find out that i only have to replace the engine compartment section.

I know this thread is old but basically you have to take both cables off, look for fray and if nothings wrong lub them up? Mines hard as dog crap! Any ideas of why, anyone? Thanks.
