Clutch disk differences: N/A - turbo
Any difference in the clutch disk that came on the mkii turbos vs. mkii n/a cars? i think the turbo disk is part no. 31250-20140-84. Did both use the S54?

The disc is different in Diameter and Spline tooth count. They are NOT interchangeable although you can order custom clutches through many manufacturers.

As stated above, they are different in both diameter and drive spline.
Turbos use a 9-1/4" diameter disc with a 1-1/8" diameter 21 spline hub N/A's use a 8-7/8" diameter disc with a 7/8" diameter 20 spline hub |

So if I were to swap a 3S-GE or GTE into my N/A MR2, I'd need a 3S flywheel and pressure plate, but a 5S clutch disk?

If you keep the S54, then yes.

Get a disc with a spline count to match the transmission and a diameter to match the flywheel.

Okay that's what I thought. I am looking into a 3rd gen 3S-GE swap.

Yeah as stated before, use the disc that matchs the flywheel and have the drive hub swapped. I know for a FACT that a S54 drive hub will fit a E153 disc and vis-versa. I built a custom dual disc setup when I did my 1uz V8 swap in my supra using a pair of 5s-fe 8.875" disc's but with 3s-gte hubs to fit the trans...
Any decent clutch and driveline shop should be able to do it for you with no problem.... Is it known that the 3s-ge uses the same 9 1/4 disc as the 3s-gte? Toyota typically only used the 9 1/4" and larger disc's on heavy cars with larger motors and turbo 4cyl... every N/A 4cyl. toyota I've come across has had a 8 7/8" disc or smaller... If this holds true to the 3s-ge, then you'll be able to get away with a stock 5s disc. |

So the 3S-GTE and 3S-GE use different flywheels? Interesting.
