How to take apart the T Tops
So when im driving with the radio off, the left t top (driver side) rattles like something is loose. What im going to do is take it apart and see what needs to be tightened or what is causing it.
The thing im worried about is the handle. According to the manual, it says to take the handle off by using a shop rag and pull it off. im worried about it and I dont want to try it myself resulting me to accidentally break something. If anybody has done this before to their t tops, please tell me what i need to be careful of and how to properly do it right without breaking something Id like to get this done by tonight so quick answers would help a lot. Thanks |

hmmm how to explain this one... there is a clip that is on a shaft. it looks like a C and... bah ill draw it. ok, using a flat head is how i got them off but you need to be really careful as they tend to take off on you. the rag idea makes sense and would hopefuly stop it from flyin away. if you pull on the handle a bit and push on the plastic cover, you should be able to get in there and see it.
oh i just noticed its a mk2... well i could be wrong on that one but i can't imagine they would go through to much trouble to change the t-tops... i hope it helps you out man |

trust me when I say this.
grab a dish rag and slip it under then handle, then pinch the two corners together so it's wrapped around the whole thing but not overlapped and rock it back and fourth, it will cause the two ends of the clip to catch and be spread. and since you are doing it with a rag, it won't end up in your neighbor's soup clip looks like this: ![]() |

Yeah, i thought in the manual it meant to pull "off" the handle with the towel. i didnt know you had to remove the pin first

were you able to get it? that was the easiest part. for me taking off the black plastic shell under the handle was a pain. i was trying hard not to break it >_<

yeah i got it. once i figured out how to do it, i easily got the pin out. as for the plastic cover, its a little tricky because theres a plastic pin in the back and 2 metal pins in the front. they wont easily come off so you have to put some force into it
