anyone who knows?

hello everybody!
I have had my mr2 for 8 months now and i cant stop to wonder about two things.
First, the panel between the taillights. on every mr2 I've seen there is the MR2 logo but mine only say MR.

Second, I wonder why my car dont have the sticker in the door with the gearbox code, I'm curious if I have an LSD. I doubt I do becuase is an NA but the original buyer did chose not to have AC and power stering so he culd have been a racing enthusiast and gotten an LSD, who kows. is there any other place on the car there might be one?

sorry for any misspelling.

If you go to carfax or something and look your car up by it's VIN, I think it will tell you about your options, including if it has LSD.

And about the MR2 logo - that a 94 or a 95 you have. For 91-93, the rear end had the square taillights and the honeycomb center. For 94 and up, they changed to the 'circular' taillights and the different center. A lot of people with 91-93's swap 94+ centers and taillights on, so don't worry about it. You've got the more sought after rear end.

It just hit me, the car is an belgium import, they speak frensh in belgium right? and if you pronounce MR2 in french it sound like some bad word (dont know the translatin) so the car did not get the mr2 badge, thanks for your help. and for the LSD, I was just curious. I dont care to much.

In Belgium they speak German in some parts and French in others.

And yes, in France (and any other French speaking countries) the MR2 was just called the MR due to the fact that when you say "MR2" in French, it sounds like "merdeux" which means "death."

I did do a "burout" once on dry asphalt, an it made two nice stripes, but just becuase you dont have lsd it doesent mean that it will only spin one wheel

edit: I also did it once in sand on top of asphalt and is spun both wheels there as well

You probably have LSD if it left two strips on asphalt and sand.

You can jack up the back of your car and spin one rear wheel (leave the tranny in first.) If the wheel won't spin, you've got LSD. If the wheel you're turning spins, and the other wheel spins in the opposite direction, you've got an open differential, i.e. non-LSD.

nope...I"m pretty sure you don't have lsd. Almost all n/a do not have lsd. doing burn outs really doesnt mean you have lsd, jacking up the car and spining the wheels does not show you have lsd. the non lsd trannys will spin both tires, thats because of gear box I think is call vissouis? or something like that.

The only way you know if you have lsd is to take off the axles and look inside the tranny. If you have a bar, or a you cant see through but only a small hole then you have lsd.

A viscous differential IS an LSD.

And look at the badge on the back of his car - 2.0GT something or other. He has a turbo. Which means he very well could have an LSD.

highly doubt he has lsd, if he has a BEAMS then yes. Also the LSD bar in the tranny only works for TURBO transmissions. If there's a hole in n/a tranny then it's lsd (backward compared to the turbo)

Burn outs won't tell you anything
Spinning tires in the air won't tell you anything
Opening the tranny will tell you something

My Google Map

A euro 2.0GT is a 3sge normally aspirated engine.

Also, the 3sge in this car isn't a BEAMS, just a standard gen 2 (I think) 3sge

To get some things clear, it's an 1995 GTi 16v, naturally aspirated 3S-GE, Revision 3, 175 HP, and becuase it seams there is no other way to know if I have an LSD other than open the gearbox, I will just say that i dont, and if I somehow do (aginst all ods) I will get plesently suprised when I open it. when I finaly get a job I am gonna refurbish engine and gearbox anyway.
