Height Problem
hi,
i have always had a thing for mark II MR2's and the oppurtunity has come up for me to buy one it is a 1991 mr2 turbo hardtop. but the problem is i am a tall person (6'6") and i was wondering if there was a possibility for me to fit in an mr2 either with a stock seat of putting in a racing seat. thank you to whoever responds! |

it comes down to an issue of where your height is. If you're long legged, you should fit no problem. If your height is in your torso, you probably want to pass. You can get a racing seat, but you'll want to do a bracket that isn't an adapter that stacks on top of the existing hardware... which just makes it higher. Even then, you might not fit.

Here's an easy way to check it...sit in it! Play with the seat adjustments and see what works best. I've had my MR2 for over a year now and I still re-adjust my seat and try out different settings every few weeks.

The hardtop will give you the maximum possible headroom. I'm an equally proportioned 6-4 and my t-top is a tight fit to the extent that it is uncomfortable driving it for more than a short period of time.

6'6" is pushing it, but you may still fit. As mentioned earlier, a hardtop model is your best bet. Your head may brush the roof regardless, if you have a long torso.
You will NOT be able to wear a helmet in the car, so if you enjoy autocross, you're screwed. |

A race seat can help here if you make up your own way to put it on rails that are on the floor and not raised or just straight bolt the seat to the floor with strengthning built in place of the raised OEM rib. I'm pretty sure that is not legal for the road though and needs a cert. Also bolted to floor = no one else can drive the car, my racecar has a floor bolted seat, it positions me well but no one except people the same height and proportions as me can drive it.
So as mentioned with the stock seat it's a stretch and you are probably screwed for autocross |

find one to sit in before you commit to buying it, you are on the top end of the range that will fit
