'94 premium sound aftermarket head unit question

I have a 94 MR2 with premium sound. I have read on here that the Metra 8112 harness will be what I need to install and aftermarket head unit. I bought it, sure enough, it plugs in, but it doesn't work. I tested the stereo by hooking power and ground directly to the battery and the power comes on, so I know the stereo is OK. I have jacked with that stupid harness for an hour trying every possible combination of wiring and nothing works. I've installed numerous stereos, but I am at a loss... Any suggestions before I hang my head in disgrace and take it to a shop?

The stereo doesn't get power thru the harness? How's the ground with the harness?

Not sure about the ground, but thanks for the response. A guy from Metra's tech support told me that the 8112 isn't pinned right for and MR2, and I got tired of screwing with it so I took it to Ultimate Electronics. Took them 5 hours total (3 1/2 of actual work on the car) to get it working right. Then I went home, reran new speaker wires throughout the car, and installed my new 6.5" components. If it isn't raining when I get home, I will install my new 4" rear speakers, amp and sub.

I had the same problem. The harness is not grounded correctly and will not power the radio. Also when I installed mine I lost the rear subs.
