i have a problem
At low speeds when i turn the wheel there is a loud clunking and banging sound. My friend thinks it might by my CV joints and i want to say its the ball joint and tie rod combo. Haven't had a chance to take the front apart yet, it started on my way back to work. Please help

does this happen while the wheel is turning or is it when you shack the steering wheel back and fourth rapidly with the car off? If its whileyour turning it could be that, or even your steering rack...

Right after I got my car it would clunk every time I went left at low speed. Turned out it was becase the driver side strut mount was split in two.

well when you have time, ake off the panel and jave a friend jiggle the steering with the car on the ground or on ramps(must me full load on the tireS) while you watch, and then tell us where the movement is.

not cv joints when they are inot in the front
![]() The cv's in our car is in the rear. Remeber guys mid engine RWD ![]() This sounds like either Strut mounts (pillow block bearing) is fuxzored or ball joints. |

Let us know if it is your strut mount. I think this is a pattern.

the sound was coming from the strut mount area, looks like i have myself a project. I am going to replace the struts and see what happens after that. I'm trying to find a set of teins so it might be a little while

Just buy a new strut mount, i replaced both front ones, it's not that hard, if your good you can take off the mount without even compressing the spring. The trick is to press down on the spring/shock a few times so you load it up a bit, then take the nut off with some impact wrench, slide the old strut mount off and slide the new one on. Make sure to hold on to the spring plate, the stock springs don't even really hold on to it so nothing will go shooting off or anything. Aftermarket springs might but if you hold on to it they won't shoot so hard. Its an easy job and well worth it

Make sure you get it realigned after taking the struts out and putting 'em back in.
