Would rear spacers help? **Pics**
Wheels are 17x8 +35 all around.
The front fits perfect, I like it, no problems on oem suspension. Test fitting the wheel on the rear, it just plain looks goofy. The wheel has 215/40/17 tire on it. As you can see in the pictures there rear obviously looks a bit tucked in. My question is would using spacers help cure that weak stance ? 5mm ? 10mm ? and where can I buy good quality spacers from ? Would putting on a bigger tire on the rear also help appearance wise and performance ? I tried searching for any MR2s rolling on 17x8 +35 in the rear but have had no luck. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

5MM could help, but I haven't ever been a fan of a the lip of the tire being pushed out.

first off... those are some nice wheels. too bad they're not staggered though. but to answer your question, you NEED a wider tire in the back! it'll definitely look a lot better and also give you more traction. what i'd do is get some 235/40/17 and some 5mm hubcentric spacers for the rears. that should be great.

dont know what to tell you... it dosent look all that bad. but if you want spacers i think that'll pull the tire/rim a little to far out.. bigger tires maybe?

That's what I was thinking for sure, a bigger tire for the rears, for traction purposes and to take away that stretched look, I only like that appearence on the fronts.
So 235/40/17 and 5mm hubcentric spacers for the rears...thanks for the recommendation. Where can I find these spacers? Is there a thread about spacers that I haven't run across before to see how much 5mm and 10mm difference look like. And does it affect the safety of the wheels being on since there is less thread for the lugnuts to screw onto to if the wheel is being pushed out a little ? Thanks for the input so far folks. |

Right now I'd say get wider rear rubber and then some lowering springs, 'cause that looks like it's riding way high on the OEM stuff.
Then if it still isn't out as far as you want, grab some 5mm spacers for the rear. |

To make it even you'd need 13mm spacers ........... custom.
The problem with flush 8's out back is that there will be tire overhang which will cause rubbing issues.

I'm rolling 8x17 ET35 on all 4 too. I have a H&R 10mm spacer in back and I think it looks ok.

mr2magic do you have any pictures of your setup ?
![]() PS - Do I need to buy some special Volk lug nuts in order to use the plate and caps properly ? Notice how normal "tuner" lug nuts from a generic store stick out, it doesn't let me use the caps and looks ugly... |

What exactly do you want to see? The spacers or just how flush the setup is?

I had the same "tucked in" look on the rears of my Spyder and purchased 20mm spacers. did the trick and it can really change the look of the car. I like the results.
