More help - TRD Strut bars ?

Anyone with experience in replacing stock strut bars with TRD please provide as much info as possible.

My issue is that I bought a used rear SB which came without the installation page or hardware. So does the rear strut brace come with hardware like the front or do you just reuse the current bolts from the stock bar?

I have the installation page for the front and it says 159 Kg/cm which converts to 11.5 ft/lbs. That to me seems low but what I will go with for now. Does the rear use the same torque specification as the front?

I am sure that someone has documented the steps previous and can help out.

I just did this last week, there ain't much to document. Actually, I didn't do it, I just loosened the bolts on the stock strut braces. My g/f was the one who installed both front and rear TRD braces. I put my feet up in the sun, watched and had a lemonade while she was bending and reaching and stretching...

The front strut brace came with 2 long bolts for the middle double-tubed section and 2 short bolts for the extra threaded holes on the strut tops nearer the front (in case you didn't have them, these bolts were already present on mine so they were extra). The rear TRD X-brace didn't come with any bolts at all, I had her use the existing bolts. She tightened it to just under 70ft/lbs or so.

The Rear TRD X-Brace doesn't come with any hardware, you reuse the stock OEM pieces. The only thing that comes with the bar is 2 pages of instructions (which are in Japanese).

As for the torque specs, the 2 bolts that go to the firewall get torqued to 740 kg/cm, which is 53.52 ft-lbs (54 ft-lbs). The 4 nuts that screw onto the strut top studs are torqued to 820 kg/cm, which is 59.31 ft -lbs (60 ft-lbs).

RePete, if you torqued them to 70 ft-lbs, you over torqued them. Undo the nuts and bolts and re-torque them to the proper specs.

I have attached the documentation that comes with the rear TRD X-Brace. The instructions are in Japanese, but here are both pages of it.

Thanks ecko, they've been re-torqued to 54 ft/lbs. My instructions were missing.

No problem!! always glad to help

I figured a lot of people probably never saw the instruction sheet that came with the TRD Rear X-Brace, especially with all the used Braces floating around, so I scanned and uploaded the instructions
