The part number in the 97 EPC is accurate but it has since been subbed. Part # 04112-74521 This is the gasket set for a head job and it does not come with the block seals/gaskets. It does come with the head gasket naturally. The cost is approximately $160 from Jay Marks, now called Champion Toyota. The seals for the block (crank, rear, etc.) are the same as the USDM model so they're easy to obtain, except for the oil pump gasket, which is definitely different. Comparing the original water pump to a standard USDM unit, they are identical. So you can clean up the old housing and use the regular water pump for the Gen3 application. **Engine Room Wiring Harness It goes from the ECU to the front kick panel (is not one that attaches to the engine). This is the one that is often cut when you get an engine or clip. Having this intact can make a Gen III swap much easier. Part # 82111-17583 - List Price is $956.93 ***Thermostat The thermostat from Land Cruiser fits and works fine in the Gen 3 3S-GTE. The temperature that the valve opens is the same. The Part number is: 90916-03117. The thermostat made for the US 3SGTE is too small in size. 3S-GE The EPC is showing different part numbers for the turbo and n/a 3S version starters. The part number for the 12/89> 3SGE is: 28100-74070. ST-205 Map Sensor 89420-20310 I'll update the thread with pics of individual parts as I find them. Anyone else can post them as well if they like.

Gen3 Valve cover gasket
Hey Brian where did you buy the Gen3 valve cover gaskets from? I took my valve cover off to paint it and I put it back on and now I have a leak there.

From one of the rebuild kits I had. I sold a rebuild kit to ChrisK. You may contact him to see if he still has it. You might also try Champion Toyota (formerly Jay Marks).

Check this site out, http://carfiche.com/manuals020/cars/ or go straight to http://carfiche.com/fiche009/sw20/ and download the whole thing. I got it but its way too big to attach.

I keep finding references of 89621-26010 and 89621-16020 both being compatible with gen3s. I do know neither 89621-12010 or 89621-12050 will work.
89621-12010 is also found on 90 5SFE engines - so in the initial post it says same as 5SFE, you should amend that to same as 91+ 5SFE, cause a 90 5S is different. I have a gen3 igniter at home. Ill check the PN on it too. I keep amending this post. Im adding to it as Im finding it. Here is a link to a site that tells you how to swap gen2 to gen3 electronics using ignitor 89621-26010 How to 3SGTE gen 2 to Gen 3 convertion Here is a link to a thread on the other board where a user Ishii actually performs the gen3 electronics swap onto a gen2 engine using all gen3 bits, and hes using ignitor 89621-16020. MR2 Owners Club Message Board™ So I guess you can use either/or? Last edited by Luni; 05-12-2008 at 10:02 PM. |
