    differences by year/generartion for e153

What are the differences between part numbers for the e153 transmission for mr2 mk2 generation 1 (90-91) and gen 2 (92-93)? I am trying to replace my select and shift shaft, and the shift lever, and the parts differ between the revisions. What differences are there between the generations? There are also different part numbers for things like the gearbox fork's, the shift and select lever cover, shift interlock plate etc. If there arent any major difference can i put generation 2 gearbox parts like those listed above into the generation 1 gearbox?

Yes they are slightly different, Its hard to really tell the differences.

Are you not sure of which you need go with? I can tell you an easy way to tell which one you have if this is the case.

I have part number 33527-17060, which is the gear shift lever at the end of the shift and select shaft. However, it is discontinued. The next part number is 33527-17100 which was started in 1992. I have the shift and select shaft which is part number 33261-17040. It is also discontinued. The next part number is 33261-17050 which was also started in 1992.

I was wondering if the part numbers 33527-17100 and 33261-17050 are different to the discontinued parts. Also, with these revised parts, will i need to change parts like shift interlock plate, shift and select shaft cover, forks etc, as they also have different part numbers once the revision changes.

Superceeded number are directly interchangable. When Toyota Superceeds a number to a newer one, it means the newer part is better and is directly interchangable with the old part. You should be perfectly fine if the old number is automatically superceeding to the newer number though toyotas system.
