Engine lid prop- top clip part #

    Hi,

I ordered a new engine lid prop for my '93 NA. I now know that I need the plastic clip that holds the prop against the engine lid when closed (see circled broken part in picture below). After reading old posts, I'm not clear what the part number is for this clip. The online sources don't show it clearly, but the best description I've found is part number 53455-17040. Is that right?

    Thanks,
    zimm

According to Lithia Toyota, you have the correct part #: 53455-17040

Anyone know for sure if the part is the same for the turbo lids? And also is the hinge end held with a c- clip? Photos and or parts numbers deserve a cookie

Yep same part between NA & turbo and they all break. Its hard to remove the internal clip without bending metal surround.

My solution was to screw a copper cable clip into the broken plastic and bend metal so it supports rod. Works a treat and never breaks due to high engine bay temps. Best solution is to install a gas strut. One of the best mods ever.

Whomever had the turbo lid I just bought did that as well. I want it to be oem though. Removal is easy, I will cut it out.

Last, my issue is with the part that clips the rod to the hinge...
