Are the 94 na brakes the same as the 93+ turbo brakes?

91-95 NA's all use the same brake components.

Gotcha... does anyone have the part numbers for the 93+ brakes, and are the jdm brakes any bigger?

Only the Turbo brakes were upgraded in '93. If you want to verify this go to partznet and enter the part#'s that Ncturnal posted above and it will come back 91-94 NA ('95 NA is listed seperately but they are in fact the same).

While you folks are upgrading brakes, let me point out that if you upgrade your N/A car to Turbo brakes (only the fronts change), you MUST change the Proportioning Valve.
If you don't change to the correct valve, the F/R bias is way off - the fronts brake too hard. |

Could you advise me as to where the proportioning valve is, and how to change it. I tried looking in the bgb, but all I could find was there it said that if the pressure in the front and rear system is wrong, then to check the valve.

Frunk, driver's side. Just follow the brake lines. It's a chunk of iron with a bunch of hardlines.
If you have ABS, it is NOT the same valve as without ABS. And it's NOT the same valve as a '93+ either. |

The best brake upgrade you can do is tires. Next would be nice brake pads (like Carbotech) and better brake fluid. I have Carbotech pads on my NA, with stock rotors and Motul RB600 brake fluid, and it stops the car much faster than my turbo with stock brakes, pads, and rotors. I really don't see the need to upgrade, especially if you are not on the track. I tracked that NA and the brakes were fine.

Well, Right now I have the 93 turbo brakes on the rear from my motor swap. Maybe, since I haven't had problems after I changed the pads I will just keep it like it is. But I was getting some pedal vibrations so I assume my rotors are bad, and my pads need replacing.
I noticed when I was doing some spirited driving in the western nc mountain roads I would experience fading. Maybe I will try your pad and fluid combo, do you know of a good place to order both? |

While youre at it, you should upgrade your lines too.
SS lines do ALOT for pedal feel and braking delivery. They are only like 110-120 bux for the whole set also. |

Yeah, I totally agree. The NA brakes are fine unless you're racing on the track for extended times. Upgrading anything but the fluid and the pads is usually a waste of time and money.
