I don't think you will be able to find one that cheap unless you add a zero behind those numbers. I have seen them if I am remembering correctly for about $1,000.

A junk yard may be your best bet. Just find a Camry and buy the engine out of it.

If you're looking at spending the money to rebuild, you may want to consider this: http://www.mr2.com/forums/ems-powere...tml#post507459

Hey!
I have a complete 5s that i pulled from a running car that i drove! MR2 Owners Club Message Board™ ![]() I even power washed her! (this pic was taken before power washing) I dont want it to go to waste. I drove it for a few weeks before i took it out in preparation of the v6 swap. It had leaky valve seals cause it would slightly smoke when it started but went away after. Let me know i'll give you a good price! i live in MD and im not sure how much shipping would cost but i do have a pallet for it that i can wire it down too. Yeah, thats my suggestion too. If you have LKQ's down there by you, you souldn't have any problem finding one for 200... We have several LKQ's up here in the Tampa / Clearwatet / St. Pete area...... Dont forget, some Celica's came with 5s's also... Finding one should not be a problem at all... Im on the same quest myself (but not for a few more weeks most likely).... |

Hard to believe your unable to find a 5sfe block in a junkyard. Just save your money up for a better installment..even if you manage to obtain a 5sfe, you still will have to perform a headgasket, waterpump, timing belt, etc just to have a decent motor running with no issues..I know how it feels to be out of a 2 but from my experience was to get a 3sgte did not change anything, drop the sucker in and couple months the motor is out the car out for rebuild..
