nope, i got the 1k ohm resistor and 1n914/1n4148 diode hooked in there like you said and it doesnt work. Even when I just have the 1k resistor in there the needle doesnt move like it normally does.
possible to send it to you? because nothing im doing is working. |

Yep, you could send it to me. Unless you've got something set up wrong, I'd think that it should be working fine. Did you change the input resistor from the 43K (IIRC) that it started with?

well im testing this whole setup with the original v6 camry tachometer to make sure everything is setup correctly so i dont accidently fry the mr2 tach that i have the potentiometer on.
Also I put back in the tachometer from like the 70s I have with the diode in the setup and it only worked with the black band facing away from the tach. *edit* i dont think i have enough power Last edited by Spektrewing386; 11-10-2008 at 09:32 PM. |

One more time:
1. Set your PC to output a sinewave at 60 Hz. 2. Attach the meter BEFORE the diode. 3. Wire the (+) output lead from the amp through the diode with the band towards the tach. (Positive going pulses.) 4. Put the 1K resistor at the tach so that it loads the signal from the diode. 5. Crank up the amp so that the meter reads about 20 VAC. If the tach moves, then up the frequency to 150 Hz without changing any other settings. (See if the meter is still accurate.) |
