Some guys on the SolaraGuy forums with Superchargers claim that the rear bank knock sensor picks up the S/C noise and retards the timing. So, they disconnect it and feed both knock sensor inputs at the ecu with the remaining knock sensor. I have not done that since I am concerned about longevity of that solution. This would not explain why the non-S/C guys are also experiencing the warm weather issues tho.
I think the only way to confirm for sure would be to log the knock sensor signals and timing with various octane fuels / ambient temp to see how sensitive the sensors are and how the ecu responds. Then you could use your potentiometer idea to load the signal some and measure the effect to see if it appears safe. Ultimately it is always a balance between performance and longevity tho. |

Oh sure, now you're going to add logical thinking to mess me all up.
![]() Actually, I've tried finding the knock sensor signals with my laptop scanner, but I don't see where I can log them. |

Since when have we been restricted to following the logical path? Have we been spending our hard earned dough and countless hours all in the pursuit of improving the performance and looks
of an early 90's toyota with a book value barely into the 4 digits?I say, lets cast ourselves free of these logical chains... turn up that potentiometer, turn it again, and again! ![]() |
