Question about exhaust
I'm thinkin about doin a 1MZ swap in my car, and i was thing about puttin a Borla exhaust on it, now i know it'll will have to be all custom and i had brought up the idea before, but with a different muffler. Now i was looking at one of their mufflers and it comes with a 3in or 2.5in Inlet and 2.5in outlets...... and if you look at it it LOOKS like it would kinda work.
To me in the pic it looks like the 3in Inlet and the 2.5in Outlets muffler. ![]() now could that technically work?????? and in the discription of it, they call it a "Transverse Mount Spit Exit". |

Any muffler shop should be able to put it on for you the way you want it. They can route the inlet all the way to the exhaust manifold if they have to.

i know that, but the muffler i was looking at before had a inlet on one side, but 2 outlets on the otherside, and well ALOT of pelople said it wouldn't work that way. i just hadn't thought about it. but then i saw this muffler and got to thinking again.

Check their website to see some kind of transparent view of how the inside looks. I'm pretty sure any 1 in it would separate on the way out for 2 outlets.

Ok.. you can have any muffler of you choice on a custom exhaust.
now. you wondering if its goin to fit like OEM? or you ?? its about the inlet and outlet configuration? the inlet and outlet configuration on the borla is the same as the mr2 find tha measuraments of the borla and compare to the original muffler that will give you on idea if it fit's. Are you sure that picture you attach has outlet on both sides? Borla website does not show that. Maybe where ever you got that picture from modified the internals..
Heres the one from borla Borla Performance Industries - Universal Mufflers, Tubing & Hardware - Turbo XL Mufflers |

I actually called borla about that exact muffler a month or so ago. It will totally work. It's actually smaller than the stock muffler and has the single inlet and dual outlet just like the stock mr2 muffler. The smaller size can actually allow for smoother/bigger bends meaning better flow. I like the way borla mufflers sound and they are generally free of drone so I think it's a good pick. I would go with the 2.5 in inlet...the 3 in is too big unless you're going turbo on your v6.

having an inlet and outlet on one side, and an additional outlet on the other side... its called a crossflow muffler. Look at the camero/firebird for more popular fitments.
