I gotta reply. My full setup including turbo, cooling, wiring, fuel injectors lines and fitttings is currently at $1800 with all new "quality" parts. By quality I mean everything is name brand name except my piping and XS Power IC. Mind you many of these parts would have been necessary for the swap alone. I bet it would have easily been under $1500 even with good parts. $3k for a supercharger is dumb imo. Small gain/dollar. With the same amount of money you could be rollin. Reliability? Who knows... I haven't seen many issues, but then again everyone is still in the club and nobody is really pushing any boost yet to test the limits of these motors. |

just out of pure curiosity how do people convert square ports to round headers? Do they make some kind of special pipes that slopes from square to round? Just curious.

^ Interesting. Those are E351 gear ratios minus the final drive (which is 3.944).

I think this thread got a bit OT. Weren't we talking about exhausts. Has anyone used a berk 3inch or TKO 3 inch and gotten a good sound from a v6? I know the 3s sounds great with it, the 6 might sound even better! Any thoughts???

SO here it is, my final exhaust (for now). Originally I was going to use what was left of a turbo Apexi GT cat back. I decided this was going to be OBNOXIOUS, and reused the NA muffler.
I posted this already, but here is the B-pipe. Yes, I know the merge sucks. No, I'm not going to do anything about it right now. ![]() And here is my muffler setup. It's a NA muffler that we modified to 3" inlet. Maybe it's tough to see from the pictures, but basically we took a 180 then cut it in half and pitched it down to a 90 that goes into the B-pipe via V-bolt clamp (for easy/quick/gasketless dropping of muffler/b-pipe). The flex on the b-pipe transitions to 3". Added an o2 bung since that picture to the straight pipe behind the x-member for my wideband. I'll take some video soon, but it sounds REALLY GOOD IMO. It's quiet in cruise and idle, but you can tell it's a V6 clearly. When you WOT it, sounds very exotic IMO. I couldn't be happier considering I have like 80 bucks invested into that muffler setup. All the piping is stainless 3". My car isn't lowered, and my driveway is pitched like ... 90 degrees up it seems and I didn't scrape exhaust. So it appears ground clearance isn't an issue right now. ![]() ![]() |

I'm halfway tempted to order another Berk exhaust (already got one on the 3sgte), and fabricate some 3" piping from the turbo to the mufflers, just a matter of saving up the funds. I'm very curious to see how it would sound though, anybody else pondering about doing this idea???

Wow thats some huge pipe going into the turbo muffler!
For the swaps going on here the stock mufflers will all be used....for now...i still am looking for nice alternatives and MAY try a flowmaster/magnaflow sure they will sound like a muscle car...but at 8k rpm....i doubt it ![]()

Hrmph, is that a turbo muffler?
I honestly don't know how to tell, I thought the guy I got it from told me it was NA ... but I forget. My car came exhaust-less so I have no basis for comparison. At one time he had both (had a clip) but sold one of them, and this was left over. I kinda dig it to be honest, and I don't think I'll go away from it. It's not flashy, but man it sounds pretty decent and I can STAND TO BE IN THE CAR for an extended period of time. It's much quieter than my S10 w/350 ![]() |

Any particular reason you didn't route the pipe above the crossmember? Seems like you're gonna have ground clearance issues going over bumps like Camrys.

My driveway is VERY difficult for ground clearance challenged cars too, and no scapes yet though!I'll take a picture from the rear this weekend. I had to quit driving the car today due to a rear wheel bearing going bad all the sudden ![]() |

Oh, you're making this too hard.
If it had a cat on the input pipe it's from a Turbo. If it had an input pipe almost as long as the muffler, it's an N/A muffler. |
