New guy with some ?s
I've been looking for a 94-95 Mr2 off and on for a while and quite often the past month but haven't had any luck fiding one.
I have decided to go with a newer model (Black 05 model) and was wondering what are the difference among the years 2000-2005. I always had an interest in Mr2s since the first ones came out in the late 80s. Thanks |

03+ minor styling changes: front bumper style (integrated fogs), projector headlights, body colored intake side vents, rear tail lights and bumper grill changes and 05 had 6 disc in dash changer. There's some chromed accents inside too.
performance wise 03+ had additional chassis bracing, 16 inch rear tires. I can't remember which year they offered LSD as an option but I have it in the 05. Oh, they did change the suspension geometry so if you're looking at a stock unit it might ride a little higher than earlier model years. There were also some color options added. |

I assume you've driven, and like the way both models drive (94/95 & 00-05)? They represent two rather different experiences, neither bad, but they are certainly different. It's just a little bit of a jump for me (mentally) to go from thinking about driving a late MKII to thinking about a MKIII. Anything keeping you away from a really clean '93?
Good luck whichever way you go! |

Both the Mk II and Mk III are great cars in their own right. Driven all three gens, respect each one for their strengths and own a Mk II. As of July 4, 2008, noon it is now legal to buy and import Mk IIIs to Canada, so maybe a Mk III will be joining the stable in the near future.
Whichever one you buy, good luck. |

I thought it was a 15 year wait or something, did that rule change? Still, pretty cool - maybe we'll get some more aftermarket support with a wider enthusiast base.
The RIV list is entertaining - the 15 year rule is nearly pointless according to the admissible list. Then you get statements like this: Admissible: "2002 TO 2009 All Scion models, if built after September 1st, 2007" Not sure how you build a 2002 model in the year 2007. It appears the vehicle status has changed from inadmissible to Canada with the rewriting of Canadian bumper stander laws.
