Spyders in Canada - shopping time

For the folks up North, who's going to buy one, what are you looking for in particular and what price range? The U.S. folks can keep their eyes peeled and post up what we find.

I'm definitely going to be buying a Spyder in the future, but probably not for a year or two unless something special happens

I've noticed that the pre-'03 models seem to sell for significantly less than the '03 to '05's. Ultimately, I'd like to buy an '05 with the Phantom Grey/Red colour scheme, but I'd settle for an early model in excellent shape with low miles. Given the demographic that these cars typically sold to when new, I don't think it should be hard to find something that meets that criteria. It seems that the average '00ish car sells for under $10K US, is that about right? With the Canadian dollar hovering around par, this is an amazing buy. The other option would be finding a car in need of an engine after suffering the fate of the failed pre-cats, but for myself that wouldn't be a project I'd be willing to undertake in the next year or two either. I wouldn't be surprised to see Spyder prices in the States increase a little, as there will be a little, albeit a very small, influx of cars to Canada- and there isn't many to begin with.

Unfortunately I'm too deep into my MKII right now to not hang on to it, the Spyder will just have to be my next MR2. Damn, why couldn't Transport Canada have made this decision 2 years ago Either way, I still place blame on Toyota for not caring whether or not the car was sold above the 49th in the first place, although I'm not sure I could hold it against them

We'll see, maybe the Spyder can start off being the old lady's summer car, then get the TRD/TTE treatment when I'm content with the state of the MKII

i too just heard the great news! for around $10K, an earlier model spider can be had and that is a phenomenal deal as mentioned. however, i'm not too much of a fan of the spider's looks in stock form. but if you can manage to find a JGTC GT300 widebody kit for it, i'm sold.

i also have a feeling that many evo's are going to be making their way to canada.
