Question Wheel Tire Advice

Need new wheels and tires. Want to get top performance tires, like Gooyear F1. Need new wheels both 'cause mine are bent, two, and want to plus one or two. Have Toyo's now. Advice, feedback, suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Top performance how?

Driving in the rain or dry roads only, AutoX and street or Daily Driver, etc.

Basically no reply because there isn't enough data to formulate an answer.

Goodyear - top performance??

pick one of the following for a top-tier performance street tire
- Falken Azenis
- Bridgestone RE01R
- Toyo R1R
- Dunlop Star Spec (if you can find it)
- Yokohama Advan Neova (if it comes in the right size for a Mk3)

More info on my earlier question. I need new tires and wheels for 2001 Spyder. Use my MR2 in non-winter weather here in Michigan for daily 10 mile commute to work; more often for trips out on winding country roads. Thinking of getting 17 inch, light weight wheels with Goodyear Eagle F-1 GS-D3’s: 215/40-17 front, 225/40-17 or 235/35-17 rear. Per 1010tires.com tire size calculator, stock and this upgrade are within 3% in diameter. Weight is a bit more but wheels are lightweight. Any really negative consequences with this tire width and aspect? I am looking primarily for sled-on-rails type cornering like I had in my 2001 Honda Prelude SH. I will look at the tires already suggested. Not worried about bumpy ride or tire noise. Thanks again.

Stock tires are 185/55-15 front, 205/50-15 rear. Few good summer performance tires in those sizes. Have Toyo tires now.

kbrew 8991 posted a list of the usual suspects. If you want 17s then go for it, it's your car. However, since the rim portion of the wheel is farther from the hub, there will be some impact to rotational inertia. AutoX guys go looking for wide 13s to max out handling, so only only you can decide if the 17s benefit's exceed the losses.

I forgot about rotational inertia. Sounds like it might slow acceleration a little. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah some. The question is does it make up for the difference in increased sharpness of turn-in etc. I seem to recall a tire rack test in wich a +2 tire did better than the OEM size around a road course, not sure of the details anymore. Unfortunately most of us can't afford back to back tests of multiple tires on multiple wheels.
