they are under $40 at the dealership. you might as well order the latches too while you are at it, they age pretty badly, I have mine rigged pretty ghetto. but works like a charm though.
I consider it reasonable because you are gonna need under the hood, without a doubt. hope it helps! |

yeah, that's what I mean. what kind of problem are you having with them? I can take some pictures of how I have mine rigged so hopefully we can save you some money and time while you order your part.

The end of the hood cable has a plastic piece that slides into the latch, it is cracked. The metal end of the cable came off. The latch seems to be ok, just no return tension in the cable. The cable at the local dealership is only $30 bucks, so not too bad. My brother reminded me of something just attach the new cable to the old one and hopefully I can pull it thru attached to it make routing easier. Thanks for the help.

so it is not shutting then?
if the hood is not shutting: it's either going to be the spring that holds the latch down. if the hood release is not opening the hood: see what you can rig to tighten the cable from either end (the cabin/hood latch) I'll take pictures sometime soon, I have a MKII, but I had the same problem with my other car. hope it helps. -H |

yeah it shuts fine, but like you said the cable almost needs to be a half inch or less shorter, then it would pop right open. When the cable is hooked up and someone pulls on the lever by the driver's seat and holds the tension on it. I can see it move everything from underneath and I can take a long metal piece and just kinda push where the cable connects to the latch and it pops right open.

I'll take a picture tonight after work. but more or less you can put something over the end of the cable to tension it, and maybe tighten it with a zip tie or something like that.
I'll get you an image soon. -H |

One extra point. The interior latch set has a tendency to bend, especially when an owner is struggling to get the hood open.
Here's a link to a thread that illustrates the problem. |
