E-brake

MY E-brake holds the car still when parked, but it doesn't have the extra "oomph" to lock the rear tires in motion. I tried adjusting the cable, but it just made it hard as hell to pull with no positive results.

Why would you want to lock the tires in motion to begin with?

I know what you need. You need one of our big brake upgrade kits: Full Brake Kits : EMSPowered, High Quality, Great Service, Low Prices

And you need one of our hydraulic handbrake kits as well. That'll give you a bite like no other

^ In another post you said that the big break kits rendered the handbrake kits useless
I got my handbrake cable adjusted and it worked, but I did it to pass a warrent of fitness as it wasnt strong enough aparently.
A hydraulic E-Brake is what drifters use isnt it?

Yes, all big brake kits for the MR2 render the STOCK handbrake inoperable. But you can add a hydraulic ebrake kit

From what I gather, there's probably nothing wrong, the stock e-brake is just weak. Apparently if you are really good at it (or screw up and lift in a fast corner) you don't need an e-brake to slide a '2. There is actually a pretty good section in the drift bible that showcases an MR2.

If you did need to stop the car in a straight line...like if the brakes went out, you'd have better luck downshifting.

Exactly, OEM manufacturer's only make the E-brake strong enough to keep the car still on a hill with a 15 degree (cant remember the amount of incline, but its probably different for each one) incline.

it's not about getting it sideways, it's about correcting understeer when shiftlock isn't an option

If slow speed, tight corner, like you'd see in an autocross: trail brake and neutral throttle/lift (power on = understeer), and set-up wise, get camber bolts for the front

If mid-high speed: lift a little...or alot if you do want to go sideways (note: make sure there's nothing to hit, and be ready with quick hands on the opposite lock)

Honestly, unless you are stunt driving/deliberately drifting/doing rallycross, if you need to use to the handbrake, you're doing it wrong . That little handle is never the fastest/best way to do anything on tarmac with an MR2 imo.

I though my car undtersteered like a champ when I started autocrossing, but it was me. I kept trying to throw the car into a corner and power out...unfortunatly sans LSD, there is no such thing for me as powering out of understeer.

Just my $.02, opinions may differ. I'd say find your local SCCA and go to a few autocrosses, and see what you can figure out in 5 or six runs around a very twisty course.

Well, you could, but it wouldn't be the easiest thing in the world. Is your PS broken, or is the relay just stuck? My relay sticks when I park the car after a track session or run up the dragon (where it's had alot of use). Usually I can just turn the car off and bump the key between accessory (radio on but nothing else) and "on" (air come on, but car doesn't start) several times (10 at the most usually) and then start it and it works.

Obviously if you know for sure that something else is wrong, that won't be any help, but I figure it never hurts to try.

it has no fluid and is leaking at the rack and maybe one of the lines.

Have you disconnected the EHPS pump? If not, that's fubar'd too if it's run dry for a while.
