vis racing fiberglass bumper
has anyone successfully fit this bumper to the mk1 mr2,
i have the techno r bumper and fitting this fiber glass bumper is a pain, it seems to have the wrong shape almost i don't see how i will get around cutting this thing and blocking it jus to get it to shape. the seams have huge gaps and don't match up to to the front seam on the fender at all really, it also has a rounder shape and is sticking out past the fenders. there doesn't seem to be a way around bonding this thing to the fender with fiberglass mesh ans resin cause the imperfections are so vast. hmmm, yea . cutting and building the thing to the proper shape is the only way i think i jus dnt wanna do something i regret and totally compromise the bumper, ruin it and have it become worthless |

Aftermarket bumper/spoiler
Appears to be a mold from another type of car, kinda bastardized and relabeled. If you wanna keep it fix it! If you think the bother of modifying it to your car is not cost effective for your time and talent send the bitch back!I would NOT "bond"? it to the fender permanently! You WILL regret this later for sure!! After several years of banging speed bumps your gonna want to repair the lower lip for absolute sure. (been there done that!) Glas a 2-3" stainless steel carriage bolt with a big collar to the inside of the bumper returns and bolt thru the fender in a unseen area. |

I ended up bonding my FG bumper to the front quarter panel, because the fit was even worse than L.B.'s photos indicate.
I had to cut off the bottom 2 inches of the F. bumper to prevent gutter crunching impacts. I found some garden variety black plastic screen with diamond holes in it. I used that to plug up the huge black gaping holes in the bumper. So Tim, those bolts you put under the bumper, were those the same bolts they use to put suspension bridges together with? Joking! |
