coil overs

does anyone know if i put coil overs in my 85 MR2 if it replaces the bearing plate? if not is anyone running coil overs? if so what brand and what year car do you have?

Some coilovers do, some don't. It all depends on what kit you use. The D2's and F2's come as a whole strut assy with tops/struts/springs. The cheap Ebay coilover setups are just a spring and a stopper (perch) for the top. If you unload the suspension completely on the cheap kits, it extends beyond the end of the spring leaving you with a nice hard landing, granted I don't think too many people's MK1s see much airtime - but mine does, so I just stuck with Eibachs, then switched to custom wound stock sized springs.
