replaced parking brake cables, now left side parking brake won't engage
i've rebuilt the entire braking system on my '86, as it was all pretty worn -- new master cylinder, 87+ rotor upgrade, new pads. i rebuilt the calipers using the Toyota kit, but i DID NOT disassemble/rebuild the parking brake mechanism within the rear calipers, as i did not have the special tool.
once i reassembled everything and adjusted the parking brake, i noticed the right caliper was sticking after i'd release the parking brake lever. the cable would release when i'd manually pull the lever at the caliper (where the cable joins the caliper). i figured the cable was frozen, as the cables were pretty rusty and all the rubber bits were disintegrating.
i replaced the cables and adjusted the level to the spec: 6-8 clicks. the right caliper works fine -- grabs the rotor tight. the left caliper, however, does not engage when the lever is pulled back, even though the cable is pulling the lever at the caliper.
if i recall correctly, the left side parking brake was working before i replaced the cables.
any idea what's going on?
