Rotor wearing against pads

All I know is that when I jack the car up and rotate the wheels I get resistance and i hear something like pad against metal.

I already have to get new rotors but before I buy new calipers what should I investigate to save myself 200 bucks.

i bet your ebrake cables siezed.. pretty common problem actually. have someone actuate the ebrake while you look at the caliper arm, make sure its moving.. or remove the cable ends from the caliper and see if the drag goes away.

to check the calipers, remove the pads and see how hard it is to push the piston back in.. it should go in fairly easily.

Do you get resistance on all four or just the rears or what?

It's also possible that your sliders are starting to seize up and need to be lubricated.

You should consider rebuilding the calipers yourself before you look at buying new ones. It's not that difficult and rebuild kits are cheap.

The slider is what the caliper slides back and forth on and is usually covered by a rubber boot. You should be able to figure out what it is pretty quickly.

If you do decide to lube it make sure that you use a high temperature brake lube or it'll cook off.

was it fronts or rears or all? have you replaced anything just b4 you noticed this? b4 you replace anything you might wnt to look at the wheel bearings as they can give a nasty noise too.

Ends up its all of them. I haven't replaced anything. I just noticed really crappy performance in the low end. Essentially it was my car overcoming the static friction induced by the pad/s rotors. Wheel bearings seem fine.

Right now im in the process of lubing the slider pin bolt, it will not budge at all. I have an impact wrench in the mail so ill probably start again when that gets here. If that doesnt work ill buy a caliper rebuild kit.

Yea i dont have a torch and although itd be amazing to have one, I still live with my 'rents and their not gonna let me use it in their garage.
